House passes sweeping budget cuts
This is flippin’ ridiculous! $10 Billion cut from Medicaid, 40,000 no longer eligible for food stamps. The House passed this assinine bill to make up for monies spent on Katrina Relief and the war. So, instead of addressing the poverty that the Katrina fiasco brought (back) to light, the Republicans decide to make it even worse. I mean, why should poor kids eat and have medical care when rich people need yet more tax breaks. We can’t have the able making sacrifices when we need so many more poor ( you can never have enough people to push down).
I’m sad and ashamed of my country right now. I’m usually just ashamed of our loser president, but now that shame runs to our law makers and the bumbling fools that elected them. I wish that more needy people would find their way to the polls on election and would know more about the process. As it is, the poorest of the people that are affected by these greedy Republican monsters are too busy trying to find a way to pay their bills, they don’t have time to read the news, get information, and make their way to the poll.
Then, of course, you’ve got other powerful Republican- backers that find a way to make sure that the poorest( that do get to vote) don’t get their votes counted. Nothing like purging voter registration rolls and informing people that the vote is on a day that it isn’t. It’s disgusting.
I pray to the gods that when next November rolls around that the people come to their senses. That they remember what the Republicans have done against them and for their (own) corporate sponsors. I pray that more poor people and disaffected people will see what’s happening to our country and say “Enough is enough!” I also pray that more people get out to educate people in person (not just online) so that these people know that their votes do count.
Our country is on a shameful downward spiral. And there just aren’t enough people that give a damn right now. But when it comes time for their own lives to become affected then they’ll care. Then they’ll do something about these bullshit politicians that are flushing our country and our people down the drain. I just hope they haven’t allowed the situation to go too far by then.
