Ok, this article says a lot about the Bushies agenda, but torture is not why I’m pointing to it, per se. What I want to address is this:
Hadley said Bush was troubled by revelations last week that the U.S. military secretly paid Iraqi newspapers to print pro-American articles.
He said the administration did not know all the facts, but would stop the practice if the reports turn out to be true.
“The Pentagon is looking into them. To the extent that kind of behavior is inconsistent with our policy, it will be stopped,” Hadley said.
I know that our gov’t likes to make itself look lovely using propaganda in the media. They’ve admitted to paying news programs to run their material while making them seem like legit news stories. But now they want us to believe that they had no idea that Iraqi papers were getting paid to print our propaganda. Bullshit.
When are people going to have enough of this crap? When are people going to stand up and say “You are not going to turn our country into a corrupt cesspool!” 37% of people in this country think that these morons are doing a good job. that leaves 63% of us gnashing our teeth and pulling our hair out.
How are we supposed to hold ourselves up as an example of good and pure democracy when our gov’t is misusing it’s power so heinously? Are we any better than the countries that we condemn? I don’t think so. I think that the rest of the world is getting tired of the ol’ pompous U.S. and doesn’t take us seriously anymore.
I’m afraid of what’s happening. I see bad things for us in the future. And I’m sad. So sad. I used to be proud to be an American and wouldn’t have dreamt of living anywhere else in the world. But with each passing day, and with more facts coming to light, I find myself thinking that I should learn another language and forget I ever lived here.
