Bush to Take Unscripted Audience Questions - Yahoo! News
The title is a little misleading. It should say “Bush to take unscripted questions from pre-approved audience”. Yes, he’s winging it with his answers but the article does happen to mention
Bush has been taking questions from audience members in recent speeches, and the White House says none has been prescreened. The sessions are not open to the public, but instead limited to invited groups. It’s a throwback to the folksy style on the campaign trail that helped him win re-election and a departure from the heavily scripted speeches that were the norm last year.
How funny. Of course, now the neo-cons are going to say “See! He does not need to have all of his answers scripted. Everyone loves him!” Yeah, everyone that he invites to his speeches love him.
You know, I almost thought, when I read the title to that article, that our prez was actually growing some stones and wouldn’t be afraid of real Americans. Once again I was disappointed. I keep forgetting that he is merely the puppet at the end of Cheney/Rumsfeld’s string.
“It’s always good to have a plant in every audience,” Bush joked last week in Sterling, Va., after a woman rose and said she was proud of him.
You don’t say? I think having the entire audience planted is even better. I mean, who really wants to answer to those mean-spirited lefties (or anyone else this administration has screwed)? And the people that watch the speeches aren’t that smart anyway. What do they care that the audience is preselected? Who cares if the leader of the free world is too afraid to face opposition by his own people?
I would like to say that I’m shocked and appalled. But then I’d be lying. This is so typical that I’d be shocked if he didn’t plant his entire audience. I’d be shocked if he really looked into the face of the people he’s hurt and betrayed. Lots of talk and no action- at least no action in the right direction.
I have to give it to CheneyRumsfeldRove, though. They are really good at getting the media to fall in step with them. And a lot of these lovely-god-fearing-middle-America folk don’t know when they’re getting Bushwhacked. They don’t know that their news source can’t be trusted to give them the full story. And we can’t trust them to care enough to find out for themselves.
You know what I’d love? I’d love to see the prez make a speech in front of a non-screened audience in, I don’t know, NYC. I’d love to see him answer off-the-cuff questions from people that don’t agree with him. Ahhh, now that’d be worth watching the news for….
