The State of the Union

I didn’t watch the State of the Union last night, I have to tell you right now. I was doing my own little boycott, mostly because the president’s speeches always make me scream like a banshee at the television. Also, I figure that The Daily Show will have better coverage over it. So, I’ll wait for that tonight.

I was just watching coverage on NBC Nightly News and was hoping they’d show both sides. I laughed when I saw Sen. Clinton cheering after the prez said “Congress didn’t act on my Social Security…” and I scowled when I saw that two people were removed from the gallery for wearing t-shirts (one supporting the war and the other protesting the war), talk about free speech.

Something that concerned me with their coverage, though, was their little “gallery” of six people who watched the speech. 2 Dems, 2 Repubs, 1 indep., and 1 Liber. All of them said that they were impressed with the president’s speech and that they were glad that he brought up alternative fuels…blah, blah, blah. They all agreed with the president. Can that be true? Is it possible? I doubt it. I’m pretty sure that was either edited to make it look like they all love Bush or they stacked the deck with Bush lovers. That was my last t.v. news outlet. And now I’m done watching them too.
