Super Bowl XL

First off, I’m a Bills fan. I know all about losing Super Bowls (4 in a row, actually). I didn’t watch a Super Bowl since then until last year. DH is a die-hard Eagles fan. There was lots of boo-hooing in our house last year, and lots of cursing Donavan McNabb. I again decided that all Super Bowls are fixed in one way or the other and refused to watch any playoff games from then on. I did keep that promise this year.

But I allowed myself to sit through the Super Bowl. I don’t know why. I’m always wishing for something different. DH and I decided to root for Seattle (he hates the Steelers because he’s a closet Browns fan- he just won’t admit it). Of course, right away I got mad. First td should have gone to the Seahawks. Offensive pass interference? Even the ass Madden thought that was wrong. Then a series of bad calls followed that. The worst being Roethlisberger’s touchdown- aka “the touchdown that didn’t happen”.

I saw the game and the instant replays, so don’t point me to that dumb CNN picture. I know what I saw on t.v. last night. Roethlisberger’s head was in the end zone, but the ball was tucked under his chest, which never made it past the goal line at ALL. Isn’t the ball supposed to make it into the end zone? Well, yes, but it didn’t. And yet he still got the goal. Lovely. 6 points to Levy.

Even with Seattle’s bad playing they should’ve won that game. Or at least taken it into overtime. But the bookies had to make their money and Levy was the one paid this year. Hey, if you watched it and didn’t see the obvious bias on the part of the refs, then you were drunk or just didn’t know what you were watching. Even if I would have rooted for the Steelers (I hate the Browns, they always put me to sleep) I would have been disappointed. I just want to watch a real football game, without the refs (or other players) fixing it.

I will never, ever watch another playoff game or another Super Bowl- ever. This time I mean it. Even if the Bills do make it in again. I told DH (and anyone else that would listen to me) that all playoff games are fixed for the money. They didn’t believe me. Maybe they will now.

My heart is broken once again.
