White House Stands by Veto Threat

WASHINGTON - Facing a Republican mutiny in Congress, the White House said Thursday that President Bush is open to compromise but would not retreat from a threatened veto of legislation that would block a Dubai-owned company from taking control of some U.S. port operations

So we’re back to typical spoiled brat behavior. And why not? Bush has gotten everything else he’s wanted from his bots, he rightly expects that they’ll rubber stamp him this time too. All he has to do to get their approval is use “compromise” properly in a sentence. Except that “compromise” when followed by “won’t back down” is pretty much negated. How will lawmakers react? I’m pretty sure they’ll be the ones to back down. We wouldn’t want his highness getting carpal tunnel from using his veto power, now would we?

Don’t worry, though, DP World has promised that they’ll supplement our own poor port security with their own superior security. We have absolutely nothing to fear from a country that supported the terrorists that killed thousands of our country men. And we certainly don’t have to worry about any terrorists infiltrating their company. They only hire white, blonde haired, blue-eyed girls, afterall. We’re just all being so xenophobic and that’s just unfair to poor president Bush and his money making machine.

He’ll stomp his feet, pout, hold his breath until he turns blue, then promptly threaten to us all about some Congressperson’s secret gay lifestyle (or illegitimate child, or DUI conviction, or ties to some lobbyist, or penchant for little girls)and all will be good in his world. Isn’t Democracy grand?
