Bush caught red-faced again

Some right wing_[1] and “moderate” blogs just don’t understand why we angry liberals are so angry about the revelation that Bush himself authorized the leaks. They don’t understand why, after we found out the king made the decree, we don’t just follow them and say “Well, shoot. Ok, well, enough investigating then. He was only trying to prove to those damned naysayers that he was right all along.” And I thought that elephants were supposed to have long memories. Guess it’s the kool-aid that makes them forgetful. Thanks to “The Raw Story”
_[2] for compiling all the lies for us to take a look at, perhaps jarring some memories about why Bush is a bold-faced liar.

President Bush, 9/30/03:
“I don’t know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I’d like to know it,{a} and we’ll take the appropriate action.”

President Bush, 9/30/03:
“If there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of{b}. . . . I have told our administration, people in my administration to be fully cooperative. I want to know the truth. If anybody has got any information inside our administration or outside our administration, it would be helpful if they came forward{c} with the information so we can find out whether or not these allegations are true and get on about the business.”
President Bush, 10/28/03:
“I’d like to know if somebody in my White House did leak sensitive information.”

Reporter: “Do you stand by your pledge to fire anyone found to have done so?”
President Bush: “Yes. And that’s up to the U.S. Attorney to find the facts.”{d}

“I want to know the truth. … I have no idea whether we’ll find out who the leaker is, partially because, in all due respect to your profession, you do a very good job of protecting the leakers.”

President Bush, 7/18/05 issue of USA Today:
“If someone committed crime, they will no longer work in my administration.”

White House Press Secretary, 9/29/03:
“The President has set high standards, the highest of standards for people in his administration. He’s made it very clear to people in his administration that he expects them to adhere to the highest standards of conduct. If anyone in this administration was involved in it, they would no longer be in this administration.”{e}

White House Press Secretary, 10/7/03:
“Let me answer what the President has said. I speak for the President and I’ll talk to you about what he wants . . .If someone leaked classified information, the President wants to know. If someone in this administration leaked classified information, they will no longer be a part of this administration {f}, because that’s not the way this White House operates, that’s not the way this President expects people in his administration to conduct their business.”

{a} Was he sleep talking when he authorized the leak?

{b} Well, I guess he didn’t break the law. But is he still going to take care of himself?

{c} It took him long enough to come forward, didn’t it?

{d} How does a president go about firing himself? Perhaps he could learn yet another lesson from Nixon.

{e} This is cause for celebration! Bush and Cheney will no longer be a part of their administration.

{f} See {e}, except weep as you realize that the finks won’t remove themselves from office because they were protecting us from terrorists. And who cares if the president has once again been caught lying to the American people. There are bad men out in the world who want to hurt us and that’s all that matters. Don’t you lefties get it yet?

So, maybe the president didn’t actually break the law this time. But once again the man has proven that he will lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever else it takes to have his own way. He has lost the last shred of credibility he could possibly have.

Hey, neocons, instead of asking the left why they’re so angry, ask yourselves why you still support a man who can’t tell the truth to save his life. Ask yourselves why you defend a president who conducts sham investigations about a leak he was fully aware of. Ask yourselves why the man can’t make his case by simply telling the truth.
