What a shame

This post was going to be about something completely different. But I’ve just read something that really makes my skin crawl.

I used to really like to read Jesus’ General. He seemed like a nice enough kind of progressive. Looking out for the best interests of the rest of us. Until recently, when the dust-up with Nashville is Talking began.

See here, here, here, here, here, and well, you get the picture. (Read the comments and follow the links)

I don’t really care so much about that whole blogwar, to be honest. I was just following links and watching the carnage. But I do care that someone who calls himself ” Ghost of Adolph Rupp” decided to take it upon himself to send emails to another progressive’s employer, simply because Ghost didn’t agree with what he said.

See here, here, here, here, and here.

Mr. Kaufman was defending someone in a civil manner on JG’s blog. He didn’t engage in ad hominem’s, make threats, or any of the numerous other things that many that commented on this issue engaged in. But he was singled out and harassed for his views. When Mr. Kaufman asked JG for assistance in finding the identity of Ghost, not only was he rebuffed but he was banned from commenting at JG and his emails were forwarded to Gmail abuse. From all the evidence that has been presented it’s quite evident that JG not only refused to halt unfair harassment of someone who had been completely fair (in my opinion as an outsider) he aided the abuse.

I have lost all respect for JG through all of this. It’s not because some consider him to be at fault for Ms. Gilbert’s resignation, or because some consider him to be a misogynist. No, he has become that which I can’t stomach on the right- arrogant and petulant. It seems almost like he’s happy to punish someone who had the audacity to disagree with him. It’s also completely galling to me that Ghost was neither banned from commenting nor scolded for what he did to Mr. Kaufman, but simply asked to refrain from commenting until this blew over. Pitiful.

Of course, I’m not a blip on the radar. Doesn’t matter. I think that everyone should consider how this played out when adding or subtracting his highness from their lowly blogrolls.
