Old Lady Banned from the bus

Odd news usually isn’t my thing- mostly because I don’t think to read it. But I found this to be downright hilarious.

LOGAN, Utah - A 76-year-old woman has been barred from the bus station after giving unwanted birth-control advice to mothers with large families. “I think it’s wrong. It’s a violation of my First Amendment rights,” Laura Stevens said.

She was arrested Tuesday for trespassing, a misdemeanor, according to police records.

“She’s been making comments to some of the Hispanic passengers that they should be on the pill, that they’re taking over our society,” said Todd Beutler, general manager of the Cache Valley Transit District.

I know when I go out I’m always so eager to get unsolicited advice from strange old ladies. I look forward to it. It was even better when Lil’ Miss was young and people were telling me “Oh, not another one of those.” Oh, the good ole days. Now it takes me lighting a joint while breastfeeding in the middle of the senior center to get any attention. What’s up with that?

Someone should really tell Ms. Stevens that there really are limits to free speech in our society. And that public buses are really private businesses and… Oh what the hell’s the point? Let the little old lady ride the damned bus and just make her sit up next to the driver. She’s not got a whole lot of time left anyway. Poor gal.

Also, 4 years after “Mission Accomplished” a full half of Baghdad is finally under control. Woo-hoo!

P.S.

I need 5 comments to get to 1,000. I won’t respond to any comments until I’ve reached my goal, so don’t think I’m being rude. I just want to celebrate 1,000 comments.

I guess I don’t understand enough about bus rules to know. Are religious types not allowed to hand out their crap on buses? If so, then I guess it’s only fair that the BC lady should have to stop bugging people.

Bus stations and nutty old people go together like hot fudge and whipped cream. She’s probably doing this because the “Repent! The world ends soon!” and the “John 3:16″ spots were already taken.

BTW, I like the changing header. And no, I am not padding comments just to be # 1000. That would be childish.

      Miz UV,
I’ve been on plenty of buses and I can tell you that anyone who’s not allowed to drive because of mental disease or defect is allowed to ride the bus. Not that religious types are that…um, well, I was going by what Joe said so blame him. Anyway, as long as you don’t bother the other passengers and you have your $2 they’re happy to have you aboard. But as soon as you tell Mrs. Smith that she needed to tie her tubes after the 10th rugrat, you’re out of there!

Well, Mr. Joe, you’ve made it one comment past the 1,000 mark. Woot! And I made you a special prize. I’d give you tons of cash, but alas I have none. You’ll just have to be happy with this little badge.:)
