Once again the Big Bad, Come-to-Save-the-Day Democrats have given Bush what he wants. The King got slapped down for his FISA violations, so he did the right thing. He demanded that Congress write him a law to change FISA to suit him. At first, the brave Democrats stood up to the All Powerful King and told him to shove it up his ass, Americans are free and dammit, they weren’t going to be party to spying on them. Take that!
Then The King stomped his feet. This would NOT do! Did they know who he was? If they didn’t do what he wanted then, by god, he was sending in Cheney. Did they realize what Cheney did to bad little Democrats? “I have the POWER OF THE VETO!” The Democrats shivered. What to do. The Veto Pen was ominous and threatened everything they’ve ever worked for. They couldn’t ignore it. There were whispers that they should let the Pen do it’s work, then The King would have to veto everything and it would look better for them eventually. But the lobbyists were waiting for their pork. What to do? Soon the Summer Recess loomed over them. They couldn’t ignore that. A few poor Democratic souls shouted to do the right thing- protect the CONSTITUTION! But there were more fearful than fearless, the combination of The Veto Pen and Summer Recess was too much for them.
They turned over and let The King stuff another wad of the Constitution straight up their asses. Who needed it anyway? They were saved from The Pen and could run to the arms of the Recess. The King was happy and they were happy. Sure that one little man was shouting and waving his arms and demanding that they turn in their Blue Cards, but they could ignore him. Bloggers were up in arms, but who cared? Bloggers are dirty little creatures anyway. And the real news had already been bought by Friends of The King. They were home free.
They avoided the nasty Pen and got out in time for trips abroad and still made sure their favorite candidates had speeches for their campaigns. The Democrats didn’t roll that easy anyway- not according to the real news. The people wouldn’t know. Focus on the hair and the BOOBS! And all will remain well in their tiny little world. And when 2009 comes around hopefully one of their own will be wielding that Pen. Then those dastardly Republicans will know what it feels like. By God, Revenge will be sweet!

I don’t know why Bush made such a big deal out of this bill. It’s not like he obeys the law anyway. Or more precisely, he ignores any law he doesn’t like and does what he wants anyway.
And when 2009 comes around hopefully one of their own will be wielding that Pen.

Bush justs want to be Big Daddy. I’m appalled that the Dems rolled over again so he could smack their asses. Sure, he could’ve vetoed or added a signing statement, but noooo they just gift wrap it and hand it to him… grrrr..

The democrats are joke!! They just keep rolling over; its really sad. I wish they would get some balls. I thought when the democrats were elected things would change but nothing has changed. There more afraid of King George then ever before.

I agree completely. I keep hoping that they will collectively find their backbone and each time I’m severely disappointed. I don’t know if they’re afraid of him or want to have his power. If it’s the power then I’m afraid we’re in a lot more trouble than we think.
