In the Wayback Machine!
Have you ever heard of it? In case you haven’t, it’s an internet archive. Pretty much anything and everything that’s ever written and stored online has been archived there. It’s good for when you run across a link that’s broken and you really want to see what was there. Like Google Cache. But better. If you’ve ever written anything you really regret, well, you should probably check to see if it’s there. Because if it is… YIKES! I have, of course, written tons of stuff that I regret. But, shit, I’m too vain to care at this point.
So, I went back and decided to check out my old sites. This is my fifth blog, so I had more material out there. Most of it was brought back here when I moved. But I didn’t get it all. So, I decided to do that. I have scraped and saved and retrieved every old post that I could from the archives. And I’m putting them all here. Why am I telling you this?
I’ll be publishing them as public soon. That’s an estimates 300+ extra posts. And I’m pretty sure once I start publishing them as public they’ll be going into readers. So, I’m warning you. No worries, though, I’ve got my reader set so you only get 8 posts at a time. If that’s too much for you I can make it lower. Please do keep in mind comments are closed on all those old posts. It’s automatic (plugins are KEWL, baybee!). I’ll be doing that later. You’ve been warned.
Anyway, I was reading some of my crap and MAN! a lot of it really is crap. I mean, you can really tell I wasn’t writing for an audience. I shouldn’t even put that out for your consumption. But I’m vain and I like having high post counts. Hey, leave me alone. I’m allowed, aren’t I?
Have you checked the Wayback Machine for your stuff? You should. It’s fun.

Not only have I checked it for my stuff, I’ve also checked it for other people’s. Very fun!
I love to do that. Especially after they disappear and you don’t know why. Usually there’s a clue in there somewhere.
Hmm….. sounds like an interesting place. Thanks for the tip!
How many people are old enough to remember where the term Wayback Machine came from (raising hand). And who actually WATCHED those cartoons? (hand still up).
I haven’t been on the internet long enough to have anything worth archiving.
The wayback machine is actually helping me in a fight to get a lot of money owed to me for some commercials I was in a couple years ago. They put them on the internet without paying for the usage (a violation of the SAG contract that applied to these spots). They took them down a few months later, and tried to say they were never on the web. Big mistake — enter the Wayback Machine!!! I love that thing.
I’ve been blogging since 2005 and three of those blogs got flushed. Or so I thought.
I decided that I don’t care who reads my crap (except for the private posts, obviously) so I grabbed ‘em all up. A little under 300 posts worth. Can you believe that shit? And not much of it is really even worth reading. Hee hee.
Yay! Good for the WBM. I hate sneaky, underhanded shit like that. You know? Karma’s a bitch. I hope you stick it to ‘em.
I found some pictures of an unnamed blogger that I always wondered about and MAN! Yeah, those should have never made it online. For real.
Well, heck, I couldn’t find anything on me…but did get some juicy tidbits on some blogs that had closed down!
I just noticed that my old blog, Boiled Dinner, doesn’t show up in the wayback machine. Well, that’s not entirely true. I had it at boileddinner.blogspot.com for a couple years, then moved it to blog.boileddinner.com. The latter url does show a couple posts, but nothing for the blogspot url. I’m bummed!
Hmm, that’s interesting. I looked for my old Pagan blog and it was there and now it’s gone. A conspiracy!! No, I’m just kidding. LOL
I honestly have no idea how it works. But it’s fun to look, isn’t it? This blog will be indexed soon because I looked myself up. I so suck.
I went back and looked at one of my very first blogger blog post and it was hilarious. Oh, wait, it’s here now.
Anyway, my first blog ever was on LiveJournal, then I realized I was too old for that shit. But I have no idea what my username was then so I can’t look it up in the wayback. That’d be good for some real laughs.
I found the first couple of comments you left on my other blog. I actually put a couple of the old ones here. Man, were we cheesy (no offense, Cheezy) back then. Hee hee.
What do you mean we’re still cheesy? Pfft.
Wow! Thanks for that! I’ve just spent the last half hour looking up my old blogs!
Speaking of which, thanks for visiting my old site (which is how I found you). The link above is my current aliased one.
Cheers!
Ada.. I mean Joe.
Hahaha! I was confused for a minute. But I’m there now.
