I agree with you about the insurance. Back when I was completely uninsured I spent a lot of time in the ER for stuff that a regular doc visit would take care of. What else could I do? Couldn't afford the visit to the office (if you can find a doctor that will see you without insurance).

I think it's going to make it through. I'm not seeing the pony and rainbow, but we'll get something. I'm pretty confident of that. I'm just hoping it's something worth having. I see a lot of good in it, and some bad. I don't have much use for the single issue folks either-- on either side. Good grief, Dkos is full of "leftie" single issue bill-killers right now. The outrage du jour is the Cadillac tax. I don't think that provision is going to make it into the final version of the bill, but, man, the haters are going strong on it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that AT LEAST Bernie Sanders' clinics make it through unscathed.

25 Free clinics in each congressional district will do a whole helluva lot of good. Ya know?

I've always believed everyone should have health insurance. At a minimum, the cost of just insuring everyone must be cheaper that the current system. Far too many people go to emergency rooms for either preventable ailments or for common issues a doctor could handle at much less the cost.

At this point, I'd be surprised if we get any kind of bill. Both sides are so ineffective and both sides have too big a contingent of "single issue" lobbies. I see that far too much as a Catholic - abortion is the only issue that matters when voting and you should be ashamed to take communion if you vote for a pro-choice politician, blah, blah, blah.

When did the fringes hijack our political system?
